Innocence…

We lost our innocence when we were first judged by others
We lost our innocence when we were told that being ourselves was just not good enough
We lost out innocence when others started telling us how we should be instead of accepting us as we are
We lost our innocence when others inflicted their will upon us using pressure as their weapon
We lost our innocence when they started to train us to live from the mind instead of our heart
We lost our innocence when we were taught that money is the source to power
We lost our innocence when they fed the greed and jealousy in our mind  instead of nurturing the love and purity of our heart
We lost our innocence when others trained us to become like them
We lost our innocence when we lost confidence in our heart and believed others were right
We lost our innocence when we started judging others as we were judged
We lost our innocence the day we were born…..

So let´s start again…
Do not judge others or yourself
Do not hurt others or yourself
Always TRY to do what feels right
Being you is just so wonderful a present…no money can buy

Rediscover the Truth that lies embedded in your heart:
We are the Children of the Light
We come from where the Light exists and shows itself in our mirror image
We are the Children of the Living Father
And our Father lives inside our heart
We all are one…discover yourself and you will know all…

I like all of it, and don't think the last part takes away from the poem at all.

Your words don't ridicule or insult people who don't believe in the "Father", so I don't see any harm. If you believe in and love the Christian God/Jesus, Buddha, or *anyone*, I don't see why you can't shout about your passion from the rooftops if you choose.

People are too quick to condemn others for having a faith, or for showing their love of that faith through art (at least around dA, from what I've seen).

As long as you're following the "Live and let live" rule, others should do the same.

Hi KB, and thanks :-)

You are exactly right.
We often tend to our place ideas about religion into the settled divisions like Christianity or Buddhism...but my beliefs are universal and connect all love and sharing that is present in all religions, including what we call non-religion...
Respect, acceptance, sharing, compassion are universal beliefs and therefore pure. No need to put them in boxes:-)
Hope you are doing fine

I think maybe the reference to a Christian God at the end might have brought down the poem. Everything else is what a wise man might come to realize and bringing God into it paints all other beliefs into a corner. I may have interpreted your poem incorrectly but that is what I think.

Maybe you are right, but it stands from which point of view you look at it...
I do not see Jesus or The Father as pure or solely Christian ...Christians maybe claimed Jesus in a way, but that does not mean it is correct...
For me all great souls work together in love and peace, Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed and all others...for me they see and treat each others as equals with love and respect... and so may we...
...but we are free to choose what we do or believe:-)
Thank you for sharing, greatly appreciated :-)

Hi. Sorry, I didn't see that jennystokes replied further down and I just repeated when she said in my reply using different words. Hope you don't feel attacked. As you explained you can basically put any "god" in that last paragraph :)

Because sometimes people have their own 'belief' system which has got NOTHING what-so-ever to do with God.
I get really 'bothered' when people start pushing religions that are theirs.
Surely ALL that matters is (what you said so eloquently) in your poem, that we like ourselves and by liking our-selves we can be just and good?

You are right, and I agree that clinging to 'right or wrong' religions is a judgement in itself. That was not my intention...
Shivers run down my spine when I see 'religious people' condemn others...what right to they have to judge??? NONE!

And that is exactly what I try to say about Innocence: stay with yourself and your heart...light is on all of us and we should not accept others telling us that is not good enough.

I am not specific committed to any religion. I love Buddha, Christ, Mohammed and all others equally. I never accept words of judgement in religions. I only believe in love and whoever sends and spreads that message is my friend.
Thank you for sharing

 so many people tried to change my mind, but I always said I loved the way I was. Now I'm even happier: I can love others and I can love myself. Not all of them accept me in this way, but most of them do. Do I need more? :)
